Textile Arts of China – Trip Guide
Organised by Silk Road Adventures (NZ) Ltd
The trip has plenty of interest for everyone, a relaxed introduction to China’s textile arts.
The trip involves three distinctly different provinces – our southeast programme includes the stunning needlework art of the Miao, Naxi and Dong nationalities in Yuman and Guizhou provinces. Techniques of interest are nine spindle loam braiding, embroidery, silk folding, resist and Indigo dyeing.
The trip includes Xi’an and the ‘buried army’ as well as historic Dali and Lijrang.
In far west China’s Xinjiang province we see traditional silk spinning, dyeing and weaving techniques before travelling to Suzhau in the Yangtze delta to visit the silk embriodery workshop of the delta water villages.
Commences in Kunming 19 June, 2009 and concludes in Shanghai 11July, 2009.
