My passion is fabric, its history and its origins. In this collection I have used the ancient resist dying technique of Shibori to create timeless and elegant pieces.
While this form of dying fabric is very time consuming, it allows me to be specific in how I pattern the fabric and where I place that in the design of the garment, making it totally unique and original.
Since 2000 I have been fortunate to spend time exploring the ancient silk routes of Central Asia gaining knowledge and skills in these ancient dye techniques. I have also started to include these beautiful complex cloths into my own collection.
Natural silks of a range of weights and responses allow me to explore a huge range of colour, both vibrant and subtle.
I have a BA in fashion and I’m registered to teach fabric technology.
